The prototype will be on display at Birmingham’s Emergency Services Show, which is held at the NEC. Ford claims that the prototype is still a concept, but that several British police services including London’s Metropolitan Police, and Police Scotland have expressed interest in it. The initial demonstrator model is powered by the 266 bhp Standard Range AWD powertrain and can travel up to 249 miles per charge.

Importantly, the blue light source for the Mach-E is not the main 12V battery. Instead, it’s fed from the regular 12V battery. Ford claims it will increase the battery’s capacity to accommodate additional equipment. The Mach-E police car is the latest in a series of electric cars that are being prepared for emergency service use. Previous examples include the Tesla Model 3 or Skoda Enyaq iV.
