New 2022 Ford EcoSport 2.0L I-4 AWD Redesign, Specs, Release Date – The Ford Authority reported earlier this month The Ford EcoSport will be sold exclusively in the U.S. through mid-2022 following the automaker’s decision to end manufacturing operations in India and stop selling the EcoSport in the Indian market. The company will, however, Ford will continue to make the crossover at its Ford Craiova Assembly Plant in Romania to be sold in the European market. Ford Authority has obtained information from people who know of this year’s Ford EcoSport release that it will include an important modification to the EcoSport lineup.

The most significant change is FoMoCo’s decision to remove its 1.0L EcoBoost I-3 from the lineup which makes I-4’s 2.0L I-4 the crossover’s sole engine choice for 2022. In 2021’s model year that year, the I-3 is included for S, SE, and Titanium trims as well as the SES is equipped featuring the I-4. Before that, it was $1,595 to include the I-4 to the S-trimmed EcoSport models, $1500 for the SE, and $1,450 on the Titanium.

Since more utility customers decide to have all-wheel drive, several automakers, including Mazda and Subaru have decided to offer it as standard on the crossover and SUV models. For the period 2018-2021, the EcoSport was only available with Ford’s I-3 with front-wheel drive however, the I-4 was offered with all-wheel drive. This is the reason for all-wheel drive becoming a standard feature for the model year 2022.

Available in a variety of different markets from 2003 The Ford EcoSport first came to the U.S. in late 2017 and saw sales of 54,348 in 2018 and 67,708 in 2019 and 60,544 by 2020. But, EcoSport sales have plunged 22 percent in the past year when compared to the same period in the previous year, which led to Ford’s decision to end the EcoSport for the U.S.
