New 2022 Ford Tourneo Connect Redesign, Release Date, Specs – Ford has begun work on a light commercial vehicle that will be based on the VW Caddy, as part of the agreement signed between Ford and Volkswagen last year. Our spy photographers captured the action. This model will replace Ford Transit Connect and Ford Tourneo Connect, and it will be available in passenger and cargo versions. It is identical to its VW-badged sibling.

The two models will share their underpinnings (MQB platform), as well as several body panels, and most of the interior. Ford will not merely rebadge the existing Tourneo or Transit Connect models. Ford’s Global C platform is the basis of the current second-generation model. It was first unveiled in 2012, and although it has received a facelift in 2018, a new generation would be welcomed.

Although the prototype is camouflaged, we can see that it shares the same profile as the VW Caddy. The front end features larger headlights and Ford’s grille. It also has a new bumper and a different bonnet. The rear will see changes only to the area surrounding the tailgate and license plate. Ford’s new range of wheels will feature different designs and a brand new color palette. It will be interesting for Ford to make a Tourneo Connect Active replacement with crossover-inspired styling ques like the Volkswagen Caddy Panamericana.

The Ford Tourneo/Transit Connect will be available for purchase sometime in 2021. It is also expected to debut as a model in 2022. It will be competing with Peugeot Partner, Citroen Berlingo, and Opel/Vauxhall Combo. Ford’s new MPV, based on the Ford Ranger-based Volkswagen Amarok, will follow suit with an all-new Ford-badged electric SUV that sits on VW Group’s MEB architecture.
