New 2022 Ford Mondeo Active Review, Release Date, Redesign – The Ford Mondeo 2022 has been seen being tested in the USA, supporting rumors that the long-running marque will get an SUV-inspired design for its next iteration. The new Mondeo will be known as Active. This is due to the decline in sales of mid-size sedans and wagons like the outgoing Mondeo and to make way for SUVs like Ford’s Escape and Everest. Our spy photography partners captured the prototype. It shows a long, sloping roofline with a rising beltline. This is matched by a raised ride height and rugged-looking wheel-arch cladding.

The camouflage is visible upfront. It shows a large, octagonal Ford corporate grille. This is flanked by slim LED lights. You’ll see a lower, upright tailgate with high-set lights if you follow the Mondeo Active’s sloping roofline towards the rear. The prototype’s 20-inch wheels and 255/45 profile Continental tires are similar to those on large SUVs such as the Hyundai Santa Fe. This is a direct indication of the exterior dimensions of the new model, which is significantly larger than its low-riding predecessor.

Our photographers did not capture interior shots of the Mondeo Active, but the leaked images showed a futuristic touchscreen unit that spans the entire width. It sits above a stripe of blue suede trim along with the dash and is accompanied by a minimal center console with a rotary gear selector, borrowed from Ford’s most recent models. Ford’s C2 platform for front- and all-wheel-drive, which is shared with the Focus small car or Escape mid-size SUV, is expected to be the next generation high-riding wagon. Expect a variety of turbocharged petrol and diesel three- and four-cylinder petrol engines, as well hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains (PHEV), to meet European emission regulations.
