New 2022 Ford Explorer Timberline Off-Road Redesign, Specs, Release Date – The all-new Ford Explorer Timberline 2022 is the off-road version we have been waiting for. The Ford Explorer will finally get an off-road version that is more competitive. The Explorer Timberline will be a rival to off-road SUVs like the Toyota 4Runner. A new look has been revealed in spy photos of a Ford Explorer model.

Exterior
The brand’s iconic crossover is now available in an off-road version, the 2022 Ford Explorer Timberline. This model has more ground clearance, better grip, and protection under the body than its regular counterpart. The grille-mounted LED fog lamps are more intimidating and give them a more aggressive look. Similar lights are found on all Explorer-based police vehicles.
Interior
The Timberline package, unlike Ford’s Raptor version, includes a 0.8-inch lift and heavy-duty shock absorbers. Spy photos show an orange band running across the lower front bumper and body-colored recovery hooks. The Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3s are available in 265/65R18 and come wrapped around Timberline-branded tires.

Engine
The new 2022 Ford Explorer Timberline will not offer more power in terms of performance. Numerous mechanical improvements will be made. The Timberline package includes a Torsen limited-slip rear differential and optional four-wheel drive. A seven-mode Terrain Management feature, with Hill Descent Control, is also available. Another novelty is the steel skid plates that protect the powertrain. It’s a stock EcoBoost four-cylinder engine of 2.3-liters with 300 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque. Ford offers a 10-speed auto transmission. The Timberline is standard with a Class III trailer hitch that can haul up to 5300 lbs. It’s not surprising, considering that off-roading models usually offer a more efficient option. Ford Explorer SUV features a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbocharged engine with 365 horsepower and 385 pound-feet torque. Although this engine might make sense, it is unlikely that it will be used for the off-road package.

The price is currently not available. According to recent reports, the 2022 Ford Explorer Timberline will be available in dealerships later this year. The Toyota 4Runner will be able to compete with this off-road version. The 4Runner’s 4.0-liter V6 engine produces 278 horsepower and 278 pound-feet torque. The Explorer Timberline should be capable of keeping up with the 3.0-liter engine.
