The order books for the new competitor to the Fiat E-Ducato and Mercedes sprinter, as well as the Renault Master E-TECH, will open in October 2021 ahead of its arrival in spring 2022.

Ford claims that the E-Transit’s 68kWh battery can provide a range of up to 196 miles with a single charge, making it one of the longest ranges available in its class. The E-Transit can be driven rearward only. Customers have the option of either 181bhp or 265bhp power outputs. Both versions produce 430Nm torque. The E-Transit’s regular panel van version can carry a maximum payload of 1,758 kg. There will be 25 different configurations of the E-Transit, including panel-van, double-cab-in-van, and chassis-cab bodies. Additionally, you have multiple length and height options and a variety of gross vehicle mass options (GVM) up to 4.25 tons.
Charging System
The E-Transit can be fully charged in just eight hours if you have a three-phase 11kW power source at your workplace. It also has 115kW fast-charging capabilities, meaning it can charge to 15 to 80% in under half an hour using a sufficiently fast ultra-rapid public charging point.
Feature
E-Transit will come in two trims: Trend and Base. Ford’s SYNC 4 software is standard on the base models. It includes voice commands and over-the-air updates. The 12-inch touchscreen display and keyless start, as well as heated seats and keyless entry. To help fleet owners monitor, optimize and manage their vehicles, there’s an onboard modem. Ford’s Connected Navi System, Cruise Control, and Pre-Collision Assist With Pedestrian Detection are available on higher-spec Trend models. Ford also offers the E-Transit with a ‘ProPower Onboard panel’. This delivers up to 2.3kW, from standard plug sockets within the cab and load area to power tools, lights, and laptops, and converts to refrigeration units. The E-Transit also comes with a 360-degree camera, Reverse Brake Assist, and a brake assist that can stop the van from swerving if it sees pedestrians, cyclists, or other static objects. The exact prices of the optional E-Transit equipment are still unknown. The E-Transit’s lower running costs are guaranteed due to its higher cost of electricity than diesel. Ford also estimates that the E-Transit will prove to be 40% more affordable to service than its diesel-engined counterpart. Its battery will come with an eight-year/100,000-mile guarantee. The E-Transit fleet trials began earlier in the month. Multiple versions of the van were put to the test as vehicles for parcel delivery, supermarket deliveries, and postal services. The E-Transit will be joining the Ford Transit Custom Plug-in Hybrid, Tourneo Custom Plug-In Hybrid, and the Kuga Plug-In Hybrid to make up the brand’s electrified commercial vehicles. It will be constructed at Ford’s Otosan Kocaeli plant in Turkey alongside the hybrid Transit Custom.

Ford also announced that the Transit Custom’s next generation will be available in an electric version. Ford’s all-electric pickup truck F-150 Lightning has been also unveiled. However, there is no indication that either the regular F-150 Lighting or the commercial F-150 Lightning will soon be available in Britain.
