According to a report by Automotive News, Ford has sent customers a letter to inform them that it plans to replace each molded-in color hardtop that’s currently installed or planned for the Bronco because of ongoing quality problems.

The letter was initially posted on the Bronco6G forum before the time that Automotive News confirmed its legitimacy for the automaker. This is just the most recent chapter in Bronco’s saga of production issues which is again centered around Ford’s manufacturer in Webasto. The German manufacturer is the one in charge of both color-molded rooftop and hardtop choices as well was originally responsible for the delays that customers faced earlier this year. The color tops molded into particular have caused some issues lately, with users all over the world sharing photos of discoloration and blemishes shortly after receiving their purchase. Therefore, the automaker will replace all these tops starting with the eldest Broncos manufactured to date. This means that Ford isn’t able to deliver models until the new roofs are made available. At present Ford believes that this is expected to happen in October. So, customers who have not received notification of their vehicle is scheduled for production won’t get the 2021 model year version or unless they’ve purchased the First Edition model. Ford states that they will begin production in 2022 the year of the Bronco beginning in December.

If Ford first delayed production of the Bronco due to problems with Webasto the assumption was that we wouldn’t need to contend with these kinds of quality issues. This isn’t the case, and customers’ complaints are reasonable at the moment.
